Library Anniversary!!! 11 years of borrowing books

Today is the 11th anniversary of the first time I borrowed a book at my favorite library. Since then I’ve borrowed around 2500 documents (books, movies, CDs…). So what did 8 yrs old me read?

5Le roi catastrophe. 7, Adalbert change d’atmosphère by Lewis Trondheim

I forgot about this series, but it used to be one of my favorites. I made sure my brothers remembered to borrow one volume each time we went to the library. Why couldn’t I do it myself? Well… my card was always full.

4Diane en Californie by Ann M. Martin

I was a major Babysitter’s Club fan and it wasn’t until after I read the first volume of the graphic novel that I realised they changed the character’s name with the translation. I’m glad they did because kid me did not speak English and Hull was hard enough to pronounce, Dawn would have been way worse.

6Natacha, hôtesse de l’air by François Walthéry

This cover isn’t too bad when it comes to sexualisation, but you can clearly see that classic French/Belgian BD racism.

11Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens

I remember thinking this was just fine, I had found classics I liked better than this.

3Le prince des voleurs by Cornelia Funke

I loved this book so much I tried to get all of my friends to read it but none of them did 😥

2L’apprenti assassin by Robin Hobb
I still haven’t picked up the second book…

1The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
By 2014 I had read a couple of books in English but I’m not sure how many of them were classics. My mom read it in school and enjoyed it so she made me pick it up and I hated it.

8Anya’s Ghost by Vera Brosgol.
I don’t remember where I heard of Anya’s Ghost, but it was one of the first books I picked up because of the hype and also without knowing much about the plot.

10Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira
I thought this book had spent so long on my library TBR before I picked it up but compared to the 4+ years of some of the books on it now that’s nothing.

9The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stifvater
I have a bookwmark for this book that I probably got when it was translated into French so this was one of the only time I used one of my own bookmarks in a library book.

7Skim by Mariko Tamaki
I read Skim when I was having a hard time at uni and it did not help my mood (still a good book tho).

Sans titreNeverworld Wake by Marisha Pessl

I know this one will wreck me. If you read it let me know what you thought of it.

Do you use your library? If you do, tell me about the books you’ve borrowed recently.

Libraries are such a blessing, and I only recently discovered the joys of them, but I’ve been borrowing books every month now! My most recent borrows were the Saga graphic novels, Enchantée by Gita Trelease. 🙂
