Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl
I’m not to restrictive with the books I add to my Goodreads TBR so this list will be divided in two categories: books I’m not sure I want to read and books I’m in no rush to pick up (change my mind?)
Books I’m not sure I want to read
King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo
I love Six of Crows, but I haven’t read the Grisha trilogy. I don’t know if I would have to before picking up King of Scars and if I do I’m not sure I will. I’ve been adding and removing that series from my TBR for years.
Children of Virtue and Vengeance by Tomi Adeyemi
I didn’t like Children of Blood and Bone, but the magic system was interesting enough that I might continue the series. Once a couple of people who didn’t love the first book review this I’ll make my decision.
Small Town Hearts by Lillie Vale
I love this type of setting: coffee shop and beach, yes please. One problem: I’ve been let down by too many YA romances. I’ve never understood romantic high school drama so if this one relies on it to further the plot I don’t want it.
Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen M. Mcmanus
I like my thrillers dark and twisted. That intensity is not super common with YA thrillers. I liked this author’s first novel, but I’ve heard this one was more predictable.
Echo North by Joanna Ruth Meyer
I love fantasy but fairytale retellings are very hit or miss for me. I would probably enjoy this book, but right now I don’t feel the need to add it to my TBR.
Books I can wait for
99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorne
I loved The Hating Game, but all the reviews I’ve come across say this one isn’t as good.
The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides
This book can go one of two ways: great suspense and twisty narrative or problematic AF.
The Perfect Assassin by K.A. Doore
This is more of ”I’m not sure I’ll be able to read” because it sounds like a book I’ll love. My library isn’t the best at getting Tor books so if I want to read this one I would have to buy it and I don’t know enough about it yet to commit.
On The Come Up by Angie Thomas
I liked The Hate U Give but I had some issues with the writing so I’m excited to see how Angie Thomas improved on that front. I loved the audiobook version of THUG so I’m probably going to pick up On The Come Up in the same format. I have two options, stalk my library website so I can place a hold the moment it shows up or wait until I see it and risk being at the bottom of a 6 months wait list.
The Fever King by Victoria Lee
Half of me really wants to read this as soon as possible, but I’m always reluctant to buy first books in series so this will have to wait until my library gets it.
